Yo! This LJ is friends only because I want to know who's reading it! So please, drop me a line here if you friend me, unless you only want to read my public con reports, because if you don't introduce yourself and give me SOME reason to do so, I won't friend you back, simple as that!

UPDATE: Okay, guys, so my friend's list is starting to get kind of ridiculously large... and in order to avoid a friends cut, I'm implementing a new rule. If you're not a cosplayer or a cosplay enthusiast, you can feel free to friend me, but please, don't ask me to friend you back. The reason behind this is that I created this LJ almost solely to interact with my cosplayer friends from around the country and talk about, for the most part, cosplay. So please, feel free to friend me and enjoy my con reports, but if you aren't a cosplayer and mostly talk about your private life on LJ, please don't ask me to friend you back... ^^;;

So I know quite a few people responded to my post with "You need roomies?? WE need roomies!" But I'm afraid I just gotta decline. I REALLY want to stay with Aimi, Mary, and Velvy (hopefully?), and I definitely want to be at the Westin. It's just way nicer and probably where Morning Musume is staying, and I would rather have a bed and be comfortable in a room of 5 people than a room of 8ish. @_@

That said, anyone still need a room for Day 0-Day 4? We'd take 1-2 people in who need it. 1 more person makes it $181 per person and 2 more people makes it $151 per person. Again, halp?

Also, unrelated, but my suitcase is going to be REALLY stuffed this year because my new one is a slight size downgrade from last year's. That said, Aimi, Mary, Velvy, are any of you going to be bringing a wig head? I might need to do last-minute styling before I throw on Miyabi, but I don't have room for one at allll. Halp? If not, Mary, can I ask you to bring one since I'm lending you my Nana wig? Perty please? She'll probably need a little more straightening before you put it on, and I don't have time to do it before I pack. :[

If you are looking for a place to stay at AX, or you know anyone who is,
PLEASE HELP.

Due to super unfortunate circumstances, myself, Aimi, and Mary have lost two roommates for AX- Diana, who cannot attend due to school, and Velvy, who would rather save money and commute.

ANYWAY, that means we now have a room at the Westin Bonaventure with only 3 girls for 5 nights (Day 0-Day 4, so we don't have to spend half of the last day of the con checking out/putting our suitcases in a $$$luggage check-in$$$), and that would be EXPENSIVE AS SHIT. I'm kind of praying that there will be some miracle and Cliff will be able to fly out to AX (he had so much fun at Anime Alabama that he actually wants to try the COMPLETE OPPOSITE END OF THE SPECTRUM now! LOL), but there's maybe a 15% chance of that happening, so I'd feel much safer finding at least 2 roomies NOW.

To copypasta from Aimi's LJ, the cost will be $181.26 (this INCLUDES tax) if we have a total of 5 people, and $151.05 if we have a total of 6. The first person to get in on this will be on the room list and get a shuttle pass, the 5th and 6th will not. As far as I know, being accompanied by someone who does have a shuttle pass can get you on them, though. Or, at least, it will DEFINITELY get you up to the room if they actually enforce that wristband shit (which I doubt they will). So please, PLEASE. If you are thinking about staying at an AX hotel, but haven't found a place to stay, and aren't positive you want to, PLEASE do us this favor and join our room. We're really desperate, and it kinda sucks to be us right now... I know $180-150 sounds like a lot of money, but we'll be paying $300 a person if no one stays with us...... think about how much more THAT will suck for something that's really not our fault. :[

Entry is locked because yeah.... THAT desperate.

THIS IS AN NYAF REPORT, KINDA

I say "kinda" because honestly, there's not much to report... I didn't cosplay Friday or Sunday, and most of the pictures, I look pretty dreadful, between all my DURP faces and that wig just looking RETARDED on me. Glad I styled a new one for Anime South. @_@ Now if only I could sell the old one...

On Thursday, D and I flew into New York late at night and were picked up by Kat, who took us on the Subway to her apartment, but not before a glorious late-night (See: 3 AM) McDonald's visit!

lol Friday. )

WCS, Oh shit. )

The next day, Diana flew back to Florida, and since my flight wasn't until several hours later, Kat and I ran and got lunch together at one of her favorite spots ('TWAS DELICIOUS~ Mmmm...) and then went to a cheap wig store where I bought my wig for my Falsetto costume that shall ONE DAY BE REALIZED. (See wig here!) Then I said my goodbyes to Kat and flew back to Alabama, where a week later, professors would be lying in wait to pounce and tell me that I was on probation in the BFA program for having priorities outside the theatre. GREAT semester last year, lemme tell ya.

If anyone is wondering about whether or not Diana and I are doing WCS again this year, we're still talking about it. We both said we'll only do it if we can come up with a really good idea (by AX) or else, why bother? I know I certainly don't won't to waste another $700, only to lose again. Then I REALLY could have bought a ticket to Japan with the $1400 I lost trying to win one. And I don't want to put that kind of money into cosplay and competitions these days, anyway.

IT IS TIME.

So this will pretty much be the quickest and most boring con report I've ever written- especially considering it was the first con I attended after turning 21! I didn't wear any new costumes, I only cosplayed Friday and Saturday, and we didn't enter the costume contest. Pretty much, the only reason D and I didn't skip this con to instead finish our WCS costumes was because we needed the excuse to get together and practice, and the idea of doing it at a con with friends in a huge hotel with inexpensive suite rooms and free breakfast seemed like a DAMN good idea. And it was! Diana and I sat down and choreographed our skit and memorized all that we needed to memorize. So aside from rehearsing a skit for the NEXT con, the only interesting thing we DID do was an epic photoshoot with Lionel on the roof of a parking garage with my Explorer. Awesome times were had. So, let's start with Thursday!

Thursday night was AWESOME, because Diana drove up to Auburn so we could ride to Atlanta together the next day. We went to one of my favorite restaurants (Chappy's! ...I think??? Or was it Brick Oven? LOL OH WELL, BOTH ROCK.), then afterwards, we made a trip to Walmart to acquire arms for our epic Black Lagoon photoshoot on Saturday. I bought myself the second Beretta that I needed to paint (I already had one), and we might have also purchased foam swords and Batman masks, too, for shits and giggles. :3 Unfortunately, we never used them in the photoshoot. :(

The shortest Friday summary EVER. )

The next day, D and I got breakfast, then changed into Roberta and Revy and headed to the con where I met up with Mary to give our make-up panel. Unfortunately, my brilliant idea to cut my tattoo out of electrical tape and stick it on my arm on the walk there was NOT so brilliant and instead, rather fail. Nevertheless, I think our make-up panel went well, and I wouldn't mind doing it again! After an unsuccessful attempt to find food that we wanted at the con, we decided to head back to our hotel room to change, then eat at the Honeybaked Ham in the shopping mall by the Embassy. After that, we changed back into Revy and Roberta and I drove to pick up Lionel at the con, then to our photoshoot location. And here are the results of that photoshoot! (With commentary.)

Revy vs. Roberta Photoshoot: Ready... DUEL! )

And Sunday, we chilled. It was nice. I also dropped $50 on a black Innocent wig so I wouldn't have to kill myself trying to weft the black wig I already bought for Himawari in less than a week when my costume still wasn't done. XD;;; That said, please buy it! I'd love to get even a little bit back on the ridiculous amount of money I put into this costume.

If you missed it, don't forget to check out my Dragon*con '08 report!

So right after I finish wiping the shit from the fan, more shit is thrown on it. I thought that right now, I would have been on the road for 2 hours, but I have canceled my trip to Megacon. My shit was all packed in the car and ready to go when I got an email from Ms. Tracy (my costume design professor... the ONLY one) saying that just because I wasn't on costume crew apparently did not mean I could miss strike. And she's even more of a hard-ass who holds grudges than Pip. So, I called the Days Inn and canceled. And of course, when you cancel a room the day of check-in, they still charge you for the first night.

SO, if I called up the hotel and told them to switch our $60 room to someone else, would anyone be interested? Hell, I will even pay you $20 out of my own pocket just to get out of paying $60. And if you held me to that, I would NOT be bitter because you're doing me such a huge favor.

One Night at the Days Inn Hotel Across from Megacon: $40 total

Any takers?

Note: My bandwidth went down then back up, so my D*C report is online again!

Dragon*con 2008 was possibly the most epic con I have ever been to. I thought meeting Shokotan was exciting, but fangirling over the cast of BSG and other stars was so incredibly awesome it hurt (literally, Adama-papa had us screaming like stark-raving lunatics at the TCF Party). Unfortunately for you all, I have a pretty damn good memory, so this again will be a photo dump full of all the shit that I can still recall from 6 months ago. WOOH!!! Including the not-so-exciting story of how I met my boyfriend. :D

So this was my first time arriving at D*C on Thursday, and I have to say... why? We didn't actually DO anything, or see anyone (aside from each other), or party or even get into costume earlier on Friday! Katie, do you still want to stay Thursday night? Because Lord knows I'd rather save the money!

Onto Friday!

Day 1: There are twelve models. I'm number Six. )
Day 2: Pink hair, tan skin. Lots of skin. )
Day 3: I know you, I walked with you once upon a dream! )
Day 4: ...Who cosplays on Monday? Honestly! )

All in all, Dragon*con 2008 pretty much ranks as the best con I have ever been to. Even though I got pulled over and ticketed on the way home (BY A BSG-LOVING STATE TROOPER, YOU GUYS, TRUE STORY.), it was totally worth it. I got to hang out and room with my bff and other awesome ladies (who baked us goodies!!), I got to geek out over NON-animu things for a change, got to party with stars from one of my favorite new series, and oh yeah, I met my future boyfriend! Oh yeah. Good con.

Soooo... Anime Expo. Con report/photo dump. SUPER IMAGE-HEAVY. SUE ME. LET'S DO THIS.

(Can you tell that Cliff went out of town this weekend? It's totally why I'm getting shit done.)

I'm going to skip all the foreplay and go right into DAY ONE.

Day One: Hello! Pro Day )
Day Two: This was not a good day. )
Day Three: Black Lagoon = drama?? )
Day Four: SHOKOTANSHOKOTANSHOKOTAN )

Never before have I been so thrilled that a con was over. Usually, I'm all depressed and melancholy on the last day, wishing it would never end but this year? I was like "THANK FUCKING GOD." Yeah, that? Sucks. That's NOT how cons should be. I'm not giving up on AX, yet, but let's just say this: if 2009 is as stressful as 2008, I may never venture out to another non-local con again. NO PRESSURE, 2009. NO PRESSURE.

This picture captures my AX experience, I think. Thanks, Erik. XD

Sooo.... one of my best friends got Married. In April. And I was a bridesmaid. :D I, of course, am speaking of [info]koneko. It was definitely one of the best experiences in my whole life, being a part of someone I love's biggest day. So it deserves a "con" report! And I couldn't move on to making con reports for AX, D*C, AWA, and NYAF until I had finished this one!

To start, let's rewind to the Bachelorette Party in Tallahassee, which was an absolute blast. I also got to meet Mer's family before the wedding, which was nice. Did I mention it was a cosplay-themed Bachelorette Party? XD Here are the pictures!

I was sad when I had to break away from the streaming feed of the Inauguration that a bunch of people in the theatre office had gathered around. So very sad that I actually made myself 5 minutes late to class.... ONLY FOR MY MUSIC APPRECIATION TEACHER TO BE PROJECTING IT ON THE WALL, 30 FT HIGH! *_* I was SO happy I didn't have to miss this! Hate the man all you want, Republicans, but at least we finally have someone who's fucking LITERATE running this country. Beautiful speech was beautiful. I immediately txt'd Cliff to share this sentiment... would have sent more texts, but I only have like, 10 texts left before I reach 200 and then they start getting hella expensive and won't restart for another week. @_@

So yeah, don't text me. :D Thanks!

That awesome LJ Icon Meme that's going around. )

As promised, this is my AUSAM-Con PIMP POST.

AUSAM-Con is the name of the convention started by the Auburn University Society of Anime and Manga and the brainchild of our club president, LeeAnne. Last year, it started as just an idea and a few months later, we had a free convention that attracted more people than we expected and made WAY more money than we projected. This year, we're moving to the fancier venue of the BRAND NEW Auburn Student Union and extending the con from one day to two! Last year, Mary and I gave a Cosplay 101 panel, ran a cosplay workshop, and threw a costume contest with about 15 entrants. This year, I'll be giving a panel on make-up with a demonstration, judging the costume contest along with [info]violet_lane and [info]koneko, and giving an Advanced Cosplay panel with Bill Winans (who was a judge at Anime Expo in 2008) and Diana (though I haven't told her about this until now. ;D).

So if you are in or near the Auburn area, I hope you can come! Last year, we had a LOT of fun- especially when we did karaoke afterward. :3 So far, I have the following people staying in my apartment:

  1. [info]violet_lane
  2. [info]koneko
  3. Nathan

And that's everyone who I've confirmed so far- [info]auburnkt, are you going to make it? [info]gulfcoastanthem? [info]micarei? [info]star_gazer_021? I'm cleaning my apartment, so I should have room, but the lame news is that I don't currently have my Explorer in Auburn, so I'm unable to drive people around. Unfortunately, I don't have any sleeping bags or cots, so everyone will have to provide their own. Katie, if you bring your air mattress, you and one girl can sleep on that, and if Mer brings hers, that can sleep two more girls. :)

Please comment here if you can make it or if you can't so I know either way. Thanks!

So I was randomly browsing my old DevArt account today and LOLing at how silly I was back in 2002-2004 (when I was most active at DA), which led to me finding THIS:

I WAS SO MOE!!!!!!!!

Only, I was like... 5'8 or 9" moe... BUT LOOK AT THAT ROUND FACE!!! Anyway, this got me thinking to something some silly anon said on the chons back in the day, which was "I bet she looked good a few years ago, but now she just looks OLD" or something. LOL Ah, yes, at 21, I feel like I probably hit my prime at around 16... I just looked sooooo much better back then, u gaiz. And I'll never get it back.

I mean, I even made a comparison picture!!

GAIZ. GAIZ. I WILL NEVER LOOK AS GOOD AS WHEN I USED TO PUT ON NARUTO HEADBANDS AND MAKE ORIGINAL NINJA OUTFITS AND POSE WITH MY BROTHER'S THROWING KNIVES, U GAIZ. (I was actually around 15 when this was taken, I think.)

So to whatever anonymous douche queen (though, I pray it's no one on my Flist) thinks I "probably looked better a few years ago," you can stick it in your pie-hole. I looked awkward as hell in my youth, and my prime is NOW.

Sorry, everyone, that's just something I felt like making a public statement about because it managed to both irk me and make me lol.

And I just (FINALLY) finished Macross Frontier, and all I can say is... FUCK YES, BEAUTIFUL~!!!! Like finishing Breaking Dawn, I suddenly feel kind of empty... like... what next??? THIS is why I take my time finishing stuff. ;_; I need some new fandom to lose my shit about. Any suggestions?? Or maybe not, as I should probably now put my efforts into getting Coconut Bubble Sex Cosplay members into MF, too.

I am so pumped for tomorrow. Dinner, hot tub, last week's vampires, then all NEW vampires at 8. What could be better than that???? Also, probably, there will be alcohol. Damn, no wonder I've put on weight lately. XD HURF DURF~

So Anime Boston... was 7 months ago. NEW RECORD!! Sorry, gaiz. But if you read this con report, I promise lots of boobs lots of never-before-seen pictures to make up for it!

So Anime Boston 2008 marked the first time that I ever pulled a total all-nighter for cosplay... or anything, for that matter. The night before Thursday, I kept sewing straight until 7 am, when I went and woke my brother so we could grab some McDs for breakfast before driving to Atlanta for my early flight. Which was awesome, btw, because it was a direct flight and there was no one in the seat next to me! :D

Day 0: Flight + pre-con shenanigans )

ZETSUBOUSHITA! Friday! )

OMGoddess, It's Saturday! )

Sunday??? )

So all in all, Anime Boston wasn't all bad. It wasn't particularly GREAT, but I think I got to hang out with my friends more than I usually do at cons lately. I know I won't be going back, though. I told myself that after the disaster that was mixing the skit at the last minute, I would NEVER do that again, and then Anime Expo happened... HA, I'M COOL. At least I made a significant improvement for NYAF, which hopefully means AX 09 will be even more successful in that area, ya know? Alright, that's all I got. Peace out, kids! AX report coming up next!
